It's pretty clear that we're going to downsize no matter what so I think there should be a vote on what we're dropping rather than a needless vote of whether or not we're dropping it

:voteplus: No need to waste money on servers that aren't being used. This would be for the best for long term sustainability.

Valve basically killed community servers because Valve is full of morons. If you haven't yet, you should join the Discord server. More active there than it is on the forums these days.

I support this idea for a good backbone to look towards. Figure out what size box we would need to run that/what is offered and adjust what we offer from there. As nice as it would be to keep even just 6 of our most popular servers, losing money won't help us in the long run. Not to mention, while the standard ports are nice, they're not necessary and we could cut those out to save costs. I'll ask that age-old question that keeps coming up that's borderline taboo, but has anyone kept an eye on the activity of the minecraft servers/do any of you reading this actively play on it? I'm curious because I know that minecraft takes up quite a bit of resources and if it's not being used, could definitely use with a cut as well. It would be nice if we could get a box with plenty of storage to keep all of these on there, but turn on/off as needed to keep up with community interests. That way we could flip on minecraft when it regains popularity, but use the extra resources for other games when it doesn't.

I'd say cut Gmod from 4 servers to 2 or maybe even just 1, cinema is mostly used just for events so it doesn't need a dedicated server and server 4 is an event server right now but we could do with just the 1 TTT server and the other for events like deathrun and prophunt and stuff. For TF2 I would suggest maybe dropping servers 10, 11, and 12, keeping 8 as the event server for when people actually want to play saxton hale and whatever extreme payload is @Pants or whoever is free: could you please send me a PM or steam message regarding a monthly subscription? I went to the paypal donation page but I didn't see a box to tick for recurring payments. Thanks! I'll also brainstorm some fundraiser event ideas / donation drive stuff, I'll post here for confirmation before I do anything concrete if that's cool with everyone else

RIP Justin Carmical

by CaptPlaceholder on January 27th, 2014, January 27th, 2014 at 09:58 PM
I met Justin a few years ago. We were both in an airport as both of our flights were delayed. I remembered seeing him from a video on youtube and decided to say hi. For the next two hours we continued to talk about various topics regarding japanese imports, pronunciation of japanese words, and random other geeky subjects. After that we exchanged email addresses and I talked with him every few months or so, becoming a huge fan of his work. He was a great guy. He never complained and was always jovial.

Congratulations, you just completed the Tutorial!

by CaptPlaceholder on May 10th, 2012, May 10th, 2012 at 06:40 PM
For whatever odd reason, I have always considered the first 18 years as that of a tutorial. Much like in Fallout 3, you are taught the basics throughout childhood and are then thrust out into the open world to try and not fuck everything up.

Tomorrow (Friday May 11th, 2012) is my final day of High School. My tutorial is almost over and I am about to be released into the open world of the real and have to figure out what the hell I am doing. I am both excited, nervous, anxious, and scared

Maka Wuhu and Others

by CaptPlaceholder on March 27th, 2012, March 27th, 2012 at 09:59 PM
As most of my time is spent either at School or at my Father's away from any PC, I have found a temporary friend in my 3DS.

Currently, I have four games for it, Super Mario 3D Land (4 Glit. Stars, going to 5 tomorrow), TLoZ: OoT 3D (currently on Master Quest, Adult Link D1), Res. Evil: The Mercenaries, and Mario Kart 7.

This blog post is about Mario Kart 7. The game itself is great. To me it is the best in the series and I greatly enjoy playing.

Except for

Attendence and Future

by CaptPlaceholder on November 7th, 2011, November 7th, 2011 at 06:59 PM
Howdy everyone,

I recently got accepted into the college I was planning on going to and I am quite happy! The college itself is Dakota State University and is a rather nice college from what I have seen. It is relatively cheap and for those who plan on going into Computer Science and Computer Network Security (like I do) they have a chance of getting into the Cyber Corps Program.

From what I was told and scrounged up the Cyber Corp is ran by the Government and they pay

What do I do with my Brother?

by CaptPlaceholder on October 3rd, 2011, October 3rd, 2011 at 06:33 PM
Yep, another one of THESE Blog Posts. Sorry, I promised I would try to cut back on these

Anyways, here is the story behind the problem. My Brother is... overweight. He is only around 14 years old and already weighs more than me. I weight *roughly* around 210. He weighs over 265 lbs. Now, he knows it and he is TRYING to cut back on his food intake and tries to get in exercise. That isn't the problem. At my school I joke around and insult my brother, calling him a bastard child. I
