What part of Japan are you visiting? I spent quite a while in Okinawa, and about 8 weeks (across 3 trips) in Tokyo. It was a crazy place.

I liked it.

I am in Yokosuka right now. We just got back from the Sapporo Ice Festival. That was wild as hell. Also beer. We should be in an around the Tokyo area for the next few days, Akihabara, Shinjuku, Harajuku areas most likely.

In Tokyo, be sure to find some of the quiet spots. There's some amazing little monasteries, parks, and the like. You'll need it after the buzz gets to you.

Go to Roppongi at night, but only one night, and don't go with anyone older than you.

Don't plan on eating anywhere in particular - you're never more than fifty feet from six restaurants, so what's the point?

Buy day passes to use the awesome rail system.

If you are looking for a place, don't forget to look UP - whatever you're looking for is probably not on the ground floor.
