Team Interrobang Meets Mumble: An Introduction Their website says: QUOTE: Essentially, Mumble is an open source clone of Teamspeak or Ventrilo. If you haven't caught on yet, this is important because we have a server running this. To install Mumble: Go to their Main Page and download the client of your choice (Current Stable Windows Client). After downloading, run it to bring up the install wizard, and yada-yada, you should all know what happens next. How to connect to our server: First step is to launch Mumble. The first time you launch Mumble you should be greeted with a wizard to set up your audio in/out settings. After completing the wizard, you should see a window titled "Mumble Server Connect", if you don't, click on "Server > Connect" to bring up this window. Click on the "Custom Servers" tab and enter the following data: Label: Team Interrobang Address: mumble.teaminterrobang.com Port: Leave this as is (it should be 64738 by default. This is the correct value.) Username: Your gaming alias goes here. In my case, it's Impact. Password: You don't need to enter anything here yet. After all the data is filled out, click the "Add" button along the bottom, then click "Connect". After this you should see the main window fill with the contents of our server! Some additional information regarding Mumble: By default, if you run a game supported by Mumble (Team Fortress 2 is among the list of supported games), you will see an overlay from Mumble displaying the members in your channel. If you don't want this, go to the directory where the Team Fortress 2 executable file is located (c:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/<username>/team fortress 2\), and create a file there with the name nooverlay and no extension to tell Mumble to stop displaying the ingame overlay. Also: You may want to enable push-to-talk in Mumble (making voice transmission work like that of TF2). This can be done by clicking "Configure > Talk". Then change the "Transmit" setting from "Voice Activity" to "Push To Talk", then click on the "Shortcuts" tab, and bind the Push-to-Talk function to the key of your choice. Press "Apply", then "OK" Sound Management in Mumble, Particularly Vista or Windows 7 Some users complain that Mumble bungles their sound. There is a Mumble setting that controls his. Go to Configure -> Settings -> User Interface Tab and select Expert Config box ![]() Now go to Audio Output and slide Other Applications to 100% if you want other apps to have their sound unchanged. ![]() Changing Vista's or Windows 7's Automatic Handling of Sound Windows Vista and 7 both register Mumble as communication software, which triggers certain system settings that in many cases automatically reduce sound of other apps up to 50%. While this is great for Skype, most Mumble users are also using Team Fortress 2 and want to hear both. The following changes should fix this. Go to Control Panel -> Hardware Settings -> Manage Audio Devices ![]() Select "Do Nothing" to the volume control settings. ![]() Viola! No annoying sound changes.
